History

The complex at number 350 Rua Professor Artur Ramos predates open municipal documentation, and what survives of it is the city’s own record. The municipal fiscal register lists the lot as a condominium in sector 083, block 178; the municipal aerial survey already showed the six towers standing in 2007; and the complex does not appear in the series of building permits published by the City from 2002 onward — which places it, comfortably, before that date. The development, construction and authorship of the architectural design are not documented in a source the house considers confirmed, and the delivery year could not be closed with two independent sources; for that reason none of it is attributed here.

What is proven is the identity. The Post Office reserves an exclusive postcode for number 350 under the name Condomínio Ilhas Gregas — and that is the only documentary proof of name this address has, in a radius where the same name repeats: there is another Ilhas Gregas, unrelated to this one, on the other side of the neighbourhood, on Rua José Maria Lisboai, also with its own postcode. Whoever speaks by name in this city speaks of two buildings at once. Here, one speaks by number.

• Concept: six towers of different heights set on a single base of more than seven thousand square metres of footprint — the club-condominium logic of the nineties, applied to a plot that would be unthinkable in the neighbourhood today.
• Curiosities: the Census address register splits the complex into six blocks, A to F, and their arithmetic tells the story of the project: three blocks rise to twenty-six storeys with two flats per floor, one rises to twenty-two with one per floor, and two stop at the sixteenth, also with one per floor. Three family sizes within the same gate.

Architecture and aesthetics

Six towers, three heights. The City measures 72.62 m, 72.52 m and 72.33 m across the three tall towers, 62.16 m for the middle one, and 46.59 m and 45.90 m for the two low ones — with floor footprints between 316 and 343 m² in each of them, all within the same range. What ties the complex together is what lies beneath: a base of 7,450.2 m² of footprint and just over three metres in height, covering nearly three quarters of the 10,112 m² plot and serving as shared ground for the six towers. The layout is that of a miniature neighbourhood — the towers do not touch, each has its own entrance, and the ground between them is shared. The authorship of the architectural design is not publicly documented and, for that reason, is not attributed here.

Jardim Paulistanoi is the stretch of the city where ultra-high-end commerce meets the residential fabric without overrunning it, and Rua Professor Artur Ramos is one of the streets that stitches this together: short, tree-lined, local traffic, linking Avenida Cidade Jardimi to the heart of the neighbourhood and bordering Jardim Europai. Esporte Clube Pinheirosi is across the avenue, Avenida Brigadeiro Faria Limai handles the corporate axis and the route to the ring road, and Parque Prefeito Mário Covasi sits in the same quadrant. It is an address of a quiet street with avenue-level infrastructure one block away — the combination the neighbourhood has sold for forty years and that recent vertical development has made more expensive without managing to repeat.
