History

From JRGi with Stani, with architecture by Studio Marcio Kogan (MK27)i, by Marcio Kogani, and landscaping by Isabel Duprati, the Edifício Artur Ramos 100 launches the concept of “suspended mansions” in Jardim Paulistanoi, next to Jardim Europai. With one apartment per floor, it is one of the rare Marcio Kogan signatures to sail into the vertical residential segment.

• Not to be confused with: this is number 100 on Rua Professor Artur Ramos — the “suspended mansions” by JRGi with Stani, designed by Studio Marcio Kogan (MK27)i. Same street, different number: Artur Ramos 422i, by Construtora São Joséi, sits a few doors away. They are address homonyms, with no relation between the developers — only the number tells them apart.

Architecture and aesthetics

The concept is that of Studio MK27i taken to the whole slab. A single residence per floor on a 1,200 m² plot allows the plan to occupy the entire frontage of the site — and that is what turns the façade into a continuous plane of glass rather than a panel punctured by windows. The eighteen glazed metres of the living room are not a detail of the floor plan: they are the building’s own elevation. The terrace’s retractable enclosure completes the gesture, because it makes the façade change expression as each family opens or closes the balcony — it never reads the same way twice. The horizontality and the rigorous integration between interior and exterior that Marcio Kogani‘s signature established in houses reappear here stacked, one floor at a time. Jardim Paulistano: the address

Rua Professor Artur Ramos crosses Jardim Paulistanoi from end to end, and the two ends are not the same address. Number 100 sits at the end that borders Avenida Brigadeiro Faria Limai: Iguatemii just over five hundred metres away and two of the avenue’s corporate helipads under two hundred and fifty. The higher numbers on the same street run in the opposite direction, towards the greenery of Parque do Povoi and the border with Jardim Europai. Living on this stretch means having the country’s main financial axis just around the corner without having it in the window — the street is short, tree-lined and strictly local in traffic, and none of the avenue’s flows pass through it. That is the calculation made in this neighbourhood: you pay for the convenience of Faria Lima and live with your back to it. A plot with this position is practically never replaced.
