History

The Autór Jardins is by Benxi and is born of a declared premise: instead of hiring one author, gather several. The developer calls this “the power of authorship” — architecture, interiors, landscaping and furniture design attributed to distinct firms, each with its own signature visible in the result, plus independent art curation. The plot sits on Rua Guarará, on the block between Rua Pamplona and Rua Haiti, right next to Jardim Pamplona Shoppingi; the municipal tax register still lists a set of small plots there, some vacant, remnants of the neighbourhood’s original subdivision. The project is approved under administrative process no. 34847-23-SP-ALV and construction has begun; sales depend on registration of the Incorporation Memorandum, and there is no public delivery date in the material consulted.

• Concept: a signed collective work — each layer of the building carries the name of whoever made it, and the sum is the building’s identity.
• Trivia: the sculpture Contínuo, by Zanini de Zaninei, inspired by a piece by Zanine Caldas, was created specially for the entrance and faces the pavement, on permanent display for passers-by. The art curation is by Kátia d’Avillez.

Architecture and aesthetics

The architecture is by MCAA Arquitetosi, a firm of more than two hundred staff whose technical rigour the developer places front and centre, and the result is a tower of about 150 metres — a height that, in the heart of the Jardinsi, guarantees an unobstructed view of the greenery of Jardim Europai and of Parque Ibirapuerai from the lower floors, because the immediate surroundings have a much lower height limit.

The interiors are by Vivian Coseri, whose twenty-year body of work is organised around raw stone worked until it becomes lightness — a material that dissolves the boundary between architecture, design and art. The landscaping is by the Escritório Burle Marxi, today led by Gustavo Leivas, which keeps the firm’s grammar: native vegetation, grouped species, well-defined ground-cover patches, authorial design. And Zanini de Zaninei joins as a guest designer, signing furniture pieces, curating pieces by other designers and creating the entrance sculpture.

Jardim Paulista: the address

Rua Guarará crosses Jardim Paulistai in the direction from Avenida Paulistai to Avenida Brigadeiro Luís Antônioi, on a flat, residential stretch that is the most discreet part of the Jardinsi. Jardim Pamplona Shoppingi is on the corner — cinema, supermarket, gym and neighbourhood services metres from the entrance — and Rua Oscar Freirei is a few blocks away, with Rua Estados Unidosi and the area’s dining scene within the same radius. Parque Ibirapuerai is just over a kilometre down Avenida Brigadeiro Luís Antônioi, and it is towards it and the tree canopy of Jardim Europai that the tower is oriented. It is a walkable address, with the underground and buses nearby and none of the drawbacks the high end usually demands — in exchange, it is a dense, established neighbourhood, with no large plot left over: every new project here is a stitched-together plot, and after it no other like it is left on the block.
