History
Built by Kauffmann, Palazzo di Savoia forms, together with its twin tower Palazzo di Ferrara, a two-tower condominium in Itaim Bibi, anchored at the edge of Parque do Povo. It is the first of the builder’s “Palazzo” series at the base, the flagship of a fleet that later sets sail for Palazzo Piemonte, Palazzo Maggiore and Palazzo Monte Leone, all with spacious layouts and club-style leisure facilities.
- Concept: the twin-tower condominium, with spacious layouts and services, beside Parque do Povo.
- Curiosities: the condominium includes a valet parking and car-washing service.
Architecture and aesthetics
Two twin towers — Savoia and Ferrara — of twenty-one storeys each, set on a 3,820 m² plot with a seventy-metre frontage and two street fronts, Jacurici and Camargo Cabral. This is the layout principle that explains everything else: with the programme split into two volumes instead of one, the ground floor is left free enough to house a tennis court and a five-a-side football court at ground level, something a single tower on the same plot could not accommodate. The layouts range from 327 to 800 m², with living rooms for three or four settings and a breakfast room, and access control is by biometrics in the lift. The language is the classic style of the Palazzo series, by Kauffmann, of which this is the first identified example in the archive; the architectural design credit is not publicly documented and is therefore not attributed here.

Itaim Bibi: the address
Number 73 sits at the start of Rua Jacurici, where it still belongs to corporate Itaim: the Seculum and HSBC tower helipads are less than three hundred metres away, and Iguatemi and JK Iguatemi lie at practically the same distance, one on each side. Parque do Povo comes next, at 182 metres — it is the street’s neighbour, Palazzo Piemonte, which gets the open view of the lawn. Here the strength lies elsewhere, in urban planning: the condominium has an entrance on Jacurici and another on Rua Camargo Cabral, two fronts on a block where almost every plot has only one.
