History

Developed by Setini, built by Barbara Engenhariai, designed by MCAAi, with landscaping by Benedito Abbudi and interiors by João Armentanoi, the JL Life by Design is a high-end address in Vila Nova Conceiçãoi, anchored between the greenery of Parque Ibirapuerai and Praça Pereira Coutinhoi, with signature tables such as Kinoshita and Josephinei a block away. A single apartment per floor and a panoramic rooftop give the measure of the project: low density on the scale of a private harbour.

Architecture and aesthetics

Contemporary lines in glass, steel and wood, with aluminium brise-soleil in a corten finish covering the face of the terraces — the element resolves two things at once: it gives the façade character and it gives back privacy to balconies that, in a building with one apartment per floor, look out over the whole neighbourhood. The building ends in a 360-degree rooftop, and that is where the massing justifies itself: nineteen floors on a low-scale street deliver, at the top, the horizon the street does not have. Rua João Lourenço crosses Vila Nova Conceiçãoi from end to end and changes character along the way: it starts residential, on the block by the park, and ends — at number 779, where this building stands — already brushing up against the office fringe the neighbourhood shares with Itaim Bibii and Vila Olímpiai.
