Tiffany's Tower

History

Tiffany’s Tower occupies number 895 on Alameda Francai, already in the stretch where the alameda has left Avenida Paulistai behind and runs entirely residential towards the Jardinsi. It is a building of the generation that gave this block its character: one apartment per floor, floor plans close to three hundred square metres and a set of leisure facilities that fit within the plot itself — the same grammar as Marambaiai, two doors up at number 933, and Tower Hillsi, on the upper stretch of the same alameda. The authorship of the project, the developer and the year of completion are not documented in any public source that can be opened and checked and, therefore, are not attributed here.

• Concept: one apartment per floor on an alameda plot in the Jardinsi — privacy resolved through the floor plan, and the social programme stretched all the way to the top floor.
• Curiosities: the building holds two rarities on the same riser — a cave-style cellar in the basement and a pub on the top floor, which shares the level with the party room and the games room. Among the common areas there is also an orchid room, an item that rarely appears in a new building’s specification sheet, and a massage room next to the dry and wet saunas.

Architecture and aesthetics

A tower with one apartment per floor, with a private hall per level and arrival via an armoured gatehouse. What defines the building is the floor plan: a double-height living room merged into four rooms — living, dining, TV room and fireplace room —, three balconies, a guest toilet and a private wing with three suites, two of them with a hydromassage tub and the master resolved with his-and-hers bathrooms, with a walk-in closet. The social floor is marble. The kitchen is a closed kitchen, with a pantry and full staff quarters attached to the service area, and each unit has its own storage room and cellar in the basement. The architectural authorship is not publicly documented and is not attributed here.

Jardim Paulista: the address

Jardim Paulistai is the neighbourhood where São Paulo learned to live well and never unlearned it. Alameda Francai crosses the residential heart of the Jardinsi in a straight, tree-lined line with slow traffic, with no through road cutting across the block — and number 895 falls in the showcase stretch: Rua Oscar Freirei and Estação Oscar Freirei a short walk away, Colégio Dante Alighierii and Club Athletico Paulistanoi within everyday reach, Avenida Paulistai and Parque Tenente Siqueira Camposi a few minutes by car. It is an address that does not depend on novelty: the road network, the schools and the street-level shops were all already here when the building went up, and they remain.
