History

By Construtora São Joséi, St. Philip belongs to the builder’s “St.” line, anchored in Jardim Europai, on the same Rua Frederic Chopini as its siblings St. Pauli and St. Patricki. It follows the line’s helm, with spacious layouts, five suites and complete leisure facilities.

Architecture and aesthetics

Sixteen units for 17,956 m² of built area: St. Philip’s scale reads in that ratio before any detail of the façade — it is an entire tower sized to serve very few people. The grammar is that of Construtora São Joséi‘s “St.” line: a house-like layout, a number of parking spaces that presupposes a large family and staff, and a penthouse duplex that nearly doubles the standard flat’s size. The architectural design is by William Simonatoi, the same architect behind St. Pauli, from the same builder, on the opposite side of the same street. The interior design and landscaping credits are not publicly documented and are therefore not attributed here.

Jardim Europa: the address

Two names for the same address

The plot sits on the border between Jardim Europa and Jardim Paulistano, and both names are legitimate. The postcode registers Jardim Paulistano; the high-end market treats the address as Jardim Europa. This entry adopts the name in common use and keeps the other for anyone searching for it.

Rua Frederic Chopin is a happy anomaly of Jardim Europai. In a neighbourhood organised horizontally, it concentrated a sequence of very-few-unit buildings — Frederic Chopini at 210, St. Pauli at 217, George Sandi at 283 — all from the same builder and raised over two decades, which gave the stretch a rare coherence of ensemble for São Paulo. Number 226 sits on the side of the neighbourhood that borders Jardim Paulistanoi — the address’s postcode is already from there — and under two hundred metres from Parque do Povoi. Cidade Jardim Stationi, on Line 9 – Emerald, is under three hundred metres away, and Shopping Iguatemi São Pauloi under a kilometre: it is the rare low-density address that does not pay for it with isolation.
