FGMF Arquitetos

Plural, award-winning contemporary architecture: nearly 500 projects and the first Brazilian studio in Wallpaper's directory.

Who it is

FGMF was founded in 1999 by Fernando Forte, Lourenço Gimenes and Rodrigo Marcondes Ferraz (the initials of their surnames form the name), all graduates of FAU-USP, based in Pinheiros. It is one of the country’s most respected contemporary studios, with nearly five hundred projects in its portfolio and a plural architecture, with no fixed formula, attentive to the relationship with its surroundings and to the transition elements between inside and outside.

Language

  • Style: plural contemporary architecture, with a strong dialogue with its surroundings and transition surfaces (brise-soleils, beams, pergolas).
  • Materials and signature: indoor-outdoor integration, formal research and the absence of a single recipe across projects.
  • Awards: more than eighty awards; the first Brazilian studio in Wallpaper magazine’s directory (2009); Dedalo Minosse, Prix Versailles and the Prêmio Roberto Aflalo (AsBEA).

Landmark works

  • Casa Grelha, in the Serra da Mantiqueira.
  • Edifício Corujas, in Vila Madalena.
  • Japan House São Paulo, in partnership with Kengo Kuma.
