History

From Zaboi Engenharia, with architecture by Itamar Berezini and landscaping by Benedito Abbudi, Maison Victoria is one of the high points of the Maison line, anchored at the edge of Parque Ibirapuerai, two minutes from Clube Círculo Militari. The floor plans are generous, with a living room integrated into the gourmet terrace and a view sailing from the park to the Faria Limai skyline.

Architecture and aesthetics

What distinguishes Maison Victoria in Itamar Berezini‘s body of work is the ratio between built and open space: a single tower set on a 6,241 m² plot inverts the usual equation of São Paulo’s high end, in which the building occupies almost everything and the garden is whatever is left over. Here it is the opposite — and Benedito Abbudi‘s landscaping is given room to accommodate a running track and courts within the plot’s own boundary, a club-level programme the city can normally no longer fit onto a single lot. In the unit, the gesture lies in the seam between inside and outside: the living room opens onto the gourmet terrace with no hierarchy between the two, and it is the terrace, not the living room, that frames the view of the park.

Paraíso: the address

Number 31 on Rua Curitibai sits at the end where Paraíso meets Parque Ibirapuerai and blurs into it: it is a little over four hundred metres to the park and two minutes to Clube Círculo Militari, so that outdoor leisure already begins before the end of the block. It is the opposite end of the neighbourhood from Avenida Paulistai — which remains a few minutes away by car, with the metro handled at Estação Paraísoi, where two lines cross —, and that distance is exactly what is bought here: centrality without the noise of the commercial axis. This is worth noting for anyone puzzled by the postal register: the Post Office lists a good part of Paraíso, Rua Curitiba included, as Vila Marianai. The house rule is that the postcode governs the address and market usage governs the neighbourhood.
