Estância Parque Atibaia

History

Estância Parque Atibaia is a gated subdivision of holiday houses, laid out on the banks of the Fernão Dias motorway, in the stretch known locally as Mato Dentro. Federal Revenue records for the association that runs the condominium list 1971 as the founding year — a documented floor for when the subdivision was established, not necessarily the year the infrastructure and first houses were finished. It is, therefore, one of the oldest gated communities in the region, contemporary with the first generation of country subdivisions that drew São Paulo’s elite to Atibaia for its highland climate and direct access via the Fernão Dias.

The postcode for the stretch of the Fernão Dias where the condominium sits registers the neighbourhood as Tanque, a name also used by local estate agents. The condominium’s own management and other listings treat the address as Mato Dentro. Both names coexist for the same rural area, and the page keeps both.

Atibaiai is one of the most traditional climate resort towns in inland São Paulo state, sought after for decades by São Paulo’s elite as a second-home address, for its highland climate and direct access via the Fernão Dias motorway.
