Who he is
Francisco Tornos signs the architectural design of Las Casas Cidade Jardim, a gated condominium of six houses on Avenida Amarílis, in Cidade Jardim, developed by FFi and built by City Farx. The credit appears in the technical sheet published by the developer itself, alongside the landscape design by Roberto Riscala and the decoration by Daniela Neves Lamacchia.
The design concept arises from a constraint of the site: in a strictly residential zone, on a 1,552 m² plot with a 50 m frontage, six residences of more than 500 m² only fit stacked over four storeys — buried garage, social life on the ground floor, bedrooms on the floor above and the roof given back as a high backyard, with a private pool. None of the houses has a lift, and the absence has a design consequence: the staircase remains the domestic axis, as in a street house.
