Irmãos Campana
The Brazilian design duo who conquered the world: the legacy of the Campana Brothers.
Who they are
Fernando (1961–2022) and Humberto (b. 1953) Campana founded the Estúdio Campana in São Paulo, in 1984. They became the most celebrated Brazilian design duo, internationally recognised for transforming everyday materials — rope, cardboard, plastic tubing, scraps — into authorial pieces such as the Vermelha (1993) and Favela (1998) chairs. Their works are part of the permanent collections of MoMA (New York), Centre Pompidou (Paris) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
